Central Station Monitoring

A central station brings vital signs from patient monitors across the hospital to one screen, so staff can watch many patients at once. Each connected patient shows real-time numbers and waveforms, alarms appear at the station, and full-disclosure waveforms and trends are stored for review and printing.

In surgery, staff can follow patients in several operating rooms, plus induction and recovery, without frequent trips into each room. Some systems also bring in anesthesia machines and infusion pumps, and VetiNet CMS builds an electronic anesthesia record. In the ICU and recovery wards, the station keeps every patient in view, including patients in isolation, and supports night-time care. Telemetry adds patients who are not tied to a bedside monitor: a transmitter such as the Mindray TMS30 Vet rides in a pouch on the animal and sends ECG to the central station.

When you compare systems, check how many patients or monitors each one supports, which monitors it works with, wired or wireless connection, HL7 links to hospital systems, and viewing from an office PC, phone, or tablet. The OmniView Central Station works with Infinium Omni Series monitors, and Mindray VetiNet CMS and BeneVision CMS Vet connect Mindray monitors, telemetry, and pumps. For bedside units, see all vital signs monitors.
